Part 2

Mankind has always moved around… travel! As time went on the mode of how we traveled has dramatically changed. Mine started as a teenager with the arrival of two wheels wow, all of a sudden I could go farther, faster, and I had fun, too. While before my world ended with looking at the horizon that was the end.

One time I climbed up the bell tower in our church and I could see a bit further my horizon expanded, my world got bigger. Soon more wheels, many wheels on steel tracks. Now I could even visit places I only heard about, read about, even dared to dream about.

Time did not stand still, life went on Joe grew up, got married, my world expanded. As a young adult now with a family my world kept growing. The curiosity to explore led me and my family to travel over the ocean, mode of travel a ship. Now that was a first, I have never seen a ship again only in pictures. Bremer Hafen, Germany was the port of departure.

Just a point of clarification; I was born and raised in Romania/Europe. The ship a World War II Liberty Ship ( The SS General Hershey ) my wife, I our three year old son with twelve hundred other passengers. The ship was not a luxury liner, only the bare amenities on board, but the food was good. For the next eleven days on the high sea, hey we can travel with the creatures that have fins, now this was one of the high points of our journey to America.

In my next segment you will hear about our adventure of a life time on the high seas.

Stay tuned.
