My name is Joseph (Joe) Eisenbeil. I was born on July 06. 1927 in Romania of German parents.

After completing my formal education at the age of 14, I continued to train for my life’s vocation in Architectural Woodworking. Three years later 17 years old faith intervened and was forced to leave my home and family not to return for 28 years. After the end of WW 2 in 1945 I found myself in Germany as a refuge, homeless no country. In Germany, I continued my education in architectural woodworking graduated #1 out of 45 classmates. Times changed, life went on.

In 1947, I met my wife Elisabeth also a refuge from Romania got married in 1949. one year later son #1 was born, life was good for us. 1952 faith again blessed us, we immigrated to America. New York City. With a masters degree in my vocation I had no problem getting employment.

For the first thee years most of my evenings was spent in Adult Ed, learning English, and everything I could about this our new adopted country America. November 1957, we became American Citizen, Finally we are home, we belong, we are Americans. For 28 years New York City, and the Catskill mountains in upstate NY was our home. We owned, and operated a first class family restaurant with German/American cousin for 10 years.

In 1978, we moved to Rapid city, South Dakota. Owned and operated a Kitchen and bathroom design business, also real estate management for contractors, and investors.

By 1987, we moved to Mesa, Arizona. We continued to work for 2 more years, I in my vocation, my wife Elisabeth as a chef in a local restaurant. An industrial accident ended my working days, at the same day my wife lost her job, and we both retired at the age of 62. We both swore she will never again cook for anybody else but us, and I will never work again for anybody else.

Retirement was great for the first few weeks, then reality set in and I realized in order to save my sanity I needed a hobby, so I learned how to tame this beast called a mouse, and a PC. This opened a whole new world, the internet, life began anew.

From my teenage days traveling was my passion, I guess curiosity led to exploration and traveling was the answer. As a single male I lived in five different countries. For the past 60 years I and my family have traveled to many places in the US, and the world, but this is for another time. One more thing, our friends called us gipsies, never grew any roots any place. no matter we like our lifestyle.

And… life and living continues!
